When the sun goes down in Zell, the restaurants, bars and clubs come to life with a mixture of traditional Austrian atmosphere mixed with international guest flavours. It really is a great all-round resort.
Offering vast terrain and breathtaking views of the Schmittenhohe Mountain and Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, the Zell am See local area has access to 49 lifts and 136km of skiing. As of the 2019/20 winter season, Zell am See is connected by ski lift with Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Fieberbrunn, and Leogang upping the total ski area to 408km in total.
The beginner ski area in Zell am See is located at middle station and while the terrain is suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, intermediate to advanced skiers will in particular enjoy the diverse terrain. Thanks Kitzstienhorn Glacier, skiing is guaranteed throughout the year.
Enjoy ice-skating, ice hockey, tobogganing, curling, indoor tennis and squash, bowling, sleigh rides or even a relaxing dip in the indoor swimming pool. Day excursions to Salzburg and Innsbruck are also possible due to the nearby train station.
Boasting an incredible choice of over 90 restaurants, Zell am See is known for its exquisite food, with cuisines ranging from traditional Austrian to Chinese, Italian and French. Giuseppe, Lebzelter, Traubensturbel, Kupferkessel, Zum Caser and Einkehr are some local favourites. On the mountain, you can choose between 50 alpine huts for lunch.
Zell am See will not only keep you busy during the day, but is known to have an excellent nightlife, with over 35 traditional cafés, bars, discos and nightclubs. Be sure to try Diele, Insider Bar, Crazy Daisy’s, Gin House and Greens.
